MODESTO / EMPIRE, STANISLAUS COUNTY — October 22, 2026. Motorists heading west on State Route 132 near Frazine Road in Empire should note an extended turning restriction included in Caltrans District 10’s October 19 traffic advisory.

Which movement is affected?

Caltrans describes a long-term full closure of the westbound left-turn lane to Frazine Road for roadway excavation through Friday, November 20, 2026. The agency lists construction hours 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. in its weekly schedule.

This is specifically a left-turn lane closure. It does not mean that all westbound SR-132 traffic is blocked, that both directions are closed, or that Empire residents must use an invented detour. Motorists must follow the posted signs and safe legal movements at the site.

Why a long-term turn restriction matters

People who normally use Frazine Road for shopping, farm access or local trips may need to adapt their route. For drivers who use the corridor less frequently, an unexpected inability to turn left can create risky last-minute maneuvers. Plan with current mapping and do not cross barricades or make prohibited turns.

The work is separate from nighttime utility activity at Spencer Avenue in Modesto that the same Caltrans bulletin scheduled for October 18–23. The two projects differ in duration, location and traffic control.

Live updates

Work dates may change with weather, equipment or traffic incidents. Before taking SR-132, use the Caltrans QuickMap. Do not treat a published schedule as evidence that crews or flaggers are present at this instant.
